Power Words and Goals

Written by: Ronell

What I learned (well, what we learned) in this class so far is about Power Words and Goals. I really like doing this cause it explains ME and what I want to achieve. I chose START and SUCCESS as my Power Words. My goals are to start fresh this year. No drama, no problems. I want and hope to be very successful throughout my school year and after. I hope being in this class can change my ways and put me on track.

Circle of Control

Written by: E.E.

Sometimes it seems like the world's against us. That everyone's out to get us. Like we can't control our lives, or anything. But in ELA, Mrs. Katz showed us that although we can't control other's actions, emotions, or thoughts, we can control a lot more than we think.

You may think that you can't control a bad day, but if you look at it through a different lens, things don't seem so dreary. If a friend seems angry at you, talking to them can go a long way. Also, if you get a bad grade, you can study more and get it next time.

Mrs. Katz showed us even though life is unpredictable, we aren't out of control.

GROW

The evening before the first day of school always puts butterflies in my stomach. Am I nervous? Yes. But, I'm feeling something more, too. I am anticipating knowing a new group of seventh graders, and I. Am. Excited.

As we travel through this year together, I have a million hopes for us. I hope that we laugh-- a lot! I hope that we read, we write, and we swap stories. I hope that we listen. I hope that we begin to understand each other. I hope that we GROW.

No matter where we are at the beginning, I hope that you can look back on our year and know that you have grown- as a writer, as a reader, as a friend, as a leader, as a person.

This will be an incredible year.
